Union poisťovňa, a. s. was established in 1992 and as such is one of the most experienced insurance companies on the Slovak market. Union offers a wide range of life, non-life and supplementary health insurance products to both individual and corporate clients. Since 1997 Union is a daughter company of the biggest Dutch insurance group Achmea B.V. This fact allows Union to utilize vast experience and know-how from all types of insurance from several countries in Europe 

Union poisťovňa, a. s. is the leading insurer in the areas of travel insurance as well as a pioneer in the area of supplementary health insurance. Union has a strong position in the selected segments of non-life insurance as well as a solid portfolio in life and supplementary health insurance.  In cooperation with its sister company Union zdravotná poisťovňa, a. s., Union offers complete solutions in the area of healthcare provision.

In the area of products distribution Union applies a principle of selling through several distribution channels. Distribution structure includes direct sales networks (both for individual and corporate clients), distribution through brokers, call centre, direct sales through Internet, mobiles (SMS insurance). Besides, in travel insurance the company cooperates with the highest number of travel agencies throughout Slovakia and successfully develops these activities also in the Czech Republic.
